Summer Short Track 2014-15 Round 2 & Crossmas Cup Cancelled.

After much consideration we’re making an early call and cancelling this round, the amount of rain and more importantly the chance of thunderstorms means it’s likely the race would be unlikely to be able to go ahead and given it is such a busy time of year we hope people appreciate the early notice rather than waiting for Wednesday afternoon.
For those that have pre-entered I’ll send emails tonight regarding transfer of entry to the January Round or refunds

Subaru Active Sydney Cyclocross Series final round results.

While it rained during set up the sun came out and smiled on the racing, with just enough cloud cover to keep things cool.  With needing to avoid some areas of the track the horse jumps along Archers Run were back in service for the first time this season, the Bahai Barrier Quad Set at full height and and a nasty off-camber hair pin at the back of the BMX track there was plenty of dismounting for some people, made what seemed a relatively open track a lot harder in the than it looked.

In the Women’s Race it was all close earlier on until Genevieve McKew fresh back from 3 weeks riding in Whistler including racing a round of the Enduro World Series snapped the elastic, with Zoe King back on the bike  holding on to second, while Oenone Wood was paying the price for some sprint efforts (of the running kind) earlier in the week, came in 3rd.

With a few of the usual suspects missing it was Tom Green straight to the front, with a group of 3 forming, including Nick Smith and Jerry van de Pol (Port Adelaide CC) all looking comfortable with the two youngsters chatting away at the front.  van de Pol was looking comfortable sitting in 3rd place for the first 5 laps when he disappeared of the back of the front 2, eventually falling back through the field to 6th place.

Meanwhile Nick and Tom raced on and it was looking like we were in for a sprint finish, but the race was probably 10 minutes 2 long for Tom and Nick rode away on the final 3 laps for a break through win.

Further back Oliver Whalley was being egged on as he clawed his way on onto the podium on his SSCXWC bike.
